PARK RAPIDS, MN – The towering pine on Main Street, trees lit on every corner, fresh evergreen wreaths on the carriage lights and window displays set the scene for the holidays in downtown Park Rapids.
We invite you to join us virtually on CHI St. Joseph’s Health Facebook page, Park Rapids Lakes Area Chamber of Commerce Facebook page or www.ParkRapids.com at 6 p.m., Friday. Nov.27th as we Light Up A Life for Hospice Care during the Heartland Lakes Community Tree lighting on Main Street in partnership with the Park Rapids Lakes Area Chamber of Commerce. The tree lighting ceremony is a celebration of life and memories. This year’s event will honor CHI St. Joseph’s Health Hospice Care individuals and families we have been blessed to care for and have provided comfort to.
Due to COVID-19 and public safety, businesses will not be offering a Yuletide Sampler, a live choir will not gather to sing and there will be no fire pits this year. Some things will not be the same this year, but our community spirit will still be strong as we get through this pandemic and keep our community safe.
However, in the spirit of the season, Santa will arrive and pull the switch to light the beautifully decorated Main Street tree for the celebration. Kids can also write letters to Santa and drop them off in the Mailbox on Main Street. Kids can come get a glimpse of Santa and Mrs. Claus each Saturday in December at 1:00 pm as he collects the letters…… but remember…. social distance so that Santa can stay safe and get those gifts ready for Christmas.
All season, Park Rapids’ giant tree brightens Main Street on winter nights and stands as a symbol of small-town cheer and good will, lighting the way to a New Year.
