CHI St. Joseph’s Health of Park Rapids is part of the Midwest Division of CommonSpirit Health. We are an award-winning, 25-bed critical access hospital located in the heart of lake country. Fully accredited by The Joint Commission. We combine state-of-the-art technology with personalized care to create a welcoming, healing environment. Our purpose goes beyond helping people overcome illness or injury. CHI St. Joseph’s Health works to build healthier communities for our residents, friends, and neighbors so they can experience better health. We partner with local agencies and organizations to strengthen healthcare programs offered in the community – providing more people access to care.

History

1946 – Founded by the Sisters of St. Joseph’s, Crookston, MN
1985 – The Franciscan Sisters of Little Falls, MN assume sponsorship
1993 – Sponsorship transfers to Catholic Health Corporation (CHC) of Omaha, NE
1996 – Catholic Health Initiatives (CHI) of Englewood, CO merges with CHC
2019 – CommonSpirit was created by the alignment of Catholic Health Initiatives and Dignity Health as a single ministry
2021 – CHI St. Joseph’s Health celebrates 75 years of service

Goal: Reduce catheter-associated urinary tract infections

Action: Use external catheter alternatives when appropriate; discontinue medically necessary catheters as soon as possible, daily hygiene by nurses, review infections for improvement opportunities

Result: No catheter-associated urinary tract infections since fall 2017
