Menahga resident Jean Tomperi (left) is the lucky recipient of this year’s handcrafted mammography quilt, a beautiful symbol of hope and a reminder of the life-saving power of early breast cancer detection. The quilt, a generous donation from the talented artisans of the Crazy Quilters of Park Rapids, was presented to Ms. Tomperi by Michele Decrans, a radiologic technologist at CHI St. Joseph’s Health. This annual tradition underscores the hospital’s commitment to raising awareness about the critical role mammograms play in preventing breast cancer mortality.
“Early detection is key to successful breast cancer treatment,” stated Michele Decrans. “Many breast cancers are asymptomatic in their early stages, making regular mammograms essential for identifying potential issues before they become life-threatening.”
The Crazy Quilters of Park Rapids have been donating these unique quilts for many years, demonstrating their unwavering dedication to supporting breast cancer awareness and the women in their community. Their artistry serves as a powerful visual reminder of the importance of preventative care.
Mammograms are the most effective tool currently available for detecting breast cancer in its earliest, most treatable stages. While mammograms are crucial, it’s vital for women to discuss their individual risk factors and personal health history with their healthcare providers to determine the most appropriate screening schedule. This personalized approach ensures women receive the best possible care tailored to their specific needs.
CHI St. Joseph’s Health encourages all women to prioritize their health and schedule their annual mammogram. No referral is needed. Call 218-616-3153 to schedule your appointment today.
